APPLICATIONS:
1. PHARMACEUTICALS:
Microcrystalline cellulose is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as an excipient in tablet and capsule formulations. It is used as a binder, diluent, disintegrant, and flow aid to improve the manufacturing process and the quality of the final dosage form. MCC helps to give tablets their shape, improve their hardness and friability, and enhance their dissolution properties. It is also used in oral suspensions and as a carrier for controlled-release drug delivery systems.
2. FOOD INDUSTRY:
Microcrystalline cellulose is also used in the food industry as a food additive (E460). It is used as a bulking agent, texturizer, and fat replacer in low-calorie and low-fat food products. MCC is commonly found in baked goods, dairy products, desserts, sauces, and dressings.
