POLYETHYLENE GLYCOL (PEG)

PolyEthylene Glycol (PEG) is a polyether compound that is commonly used in a variety of applications due to its versatility and biocompatibility. It is a water-soluble polymer.

 APPLICATIONS:

1. PHARMACEUTICALS:

   Excipient: PEG is used as an excipient in pharmaceutical formulations to improve the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of        poorly soluble drugs. It is used in various dosage forms including tablets, capsules, creams, and ointments.

   Laxatives: PEG is used as an active ingredient in laxative formulations such as polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350) for the            treatment of constipation.

   Ophthalmic Solutions: PEG is used in ophthalmic solutions and eye drops as a lubricant to relieve dry eyes and irritation.

2. PERSONAL CARE PRODUCTS:

    Skin Care: PEG is used in skin care products such as moisturizers, lotions, and creams as a humectant and emollient to hydrate      and soften the skin.

    Hair Care: PEG is used in hair care products such as shampoos and conditioners to improve the texture and manageability of          the hair.

    Topical Preparations: PEG is used as a base or vehicle for the delivery of active ingredients in topical preparations such as           gels, creams, and ointments.

3. COSMETICS:
      PEG is used in cosmetics such as makeup, sunscreen, and skincare products as an emulsifier, binder, and thickening agent.

4.  SURFACTANTS:
      PEG is used as a surfactant in industrial applications such as detergents, cleaners, and foaming agents.

5. FOOD INDUSTRY:
    PEG is used as a food additive in the food industry as a thickener, stabilizer, and emulsifier in products such as ice cream,salad        dressings, and baked goods.
