SODIUM BENZOATE 

Sodium Benzoate is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. It is a widely used preservative in the food and beverage industry due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold.

APPLICATIONS:


1. FOOD INDUSTRY:

    Preservative: Sodium benzoate is used as a preservative in a wide range of food and beverage products, including soft drinks,          fruit juices, pickles, sauces, and salad dressings. It helps to extend the shelf life of these products by inhibiting the growth of          microorganisms.

    Acidic Foods: Sodium benzoate is particularly effective in acidic foods and beverages, where it exists in its active form, benzoic         acid.


2. PHARMACEUTICALS:

    Preservative: Sodium benzoate is used as a preservative in pharmaceutical formulations such as oral liquids, syrups, and topical     creams to prevent microbial growth and extend shelf life.

    Medicinal Uses: Sodium benzoate is also used therapeutically in the treatment of hyperammonemia, a condition in which there      is excess ammonia in the blood.


3. COSMETICS:

    Sodium benzoate is used as a preservative in cosmetics and personal care products such as shampoos, lotions, and creams to           prevent the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold.
