SODIUM CITRATE

Sodium Citrate is the sodium salt of citric acid. It is a white, crystalline powder that is commonly used as a food additive and pharmaceutical excipient.

APPLICATIONS:

 1. FOOD INDUSTRY:

     Acidulant: Sodium citrate is used as an acidulant in various food and beverage products. It helps to control pH and acidity,              enhance flavor, and preserve freshness. It is commonly used in carbonated beverages, jams, jellies, and dairy products.

     Emulsifier: Sodium citrate is used as an emulsifier and stabilizer in processed cheese products to improve texture and prevent       separation.


 2. PHARMACEUTICALS:

     Buffering Agent: Sodium citrate is used as a buffering agent in pharmaceutical formulations to control pH and improve                  stability. It is commonly used in oral solutions, syrups, and effervescent tablets.

     Anticoagulant: Sodium citrate is used as an anticoagulant in blood collection tubes to prevent blood from clotting during               storage and transportation.


 3. COSMETICS:
      Sodium citrate is used in cosmetics and personal care products as a buffering agent, chelating agent, and pH adjuster. It can be       found in products such as shampoos, soaps, and lotions.


 4. CLEANING PRODUCTS:
      Sodium citrate is used in cleaning products as a chelating agent and water softener. It helps to bind to metal ions in hard                 water, preventing them from interfering with the cleaning process.
