SODIUM STARCH GLYCOLATE (SSG)
Sodium Starch Glycolate (SSG) is the sodium salt of carboxymethyl ether of starch. It is a white, odorless, and tasteless powder that is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry as a super-disintegrant.
GRADE: IP / BP / EP / USP - NF
APPLICATIONS:
1. PHARMACEUTICALS:
Disintegrant: SSG is primarily used as a super-disintegrant in pharmaceutical tablets and capsules. It helps to rapidly break down tablets and capsules into smaller particles when they come into contact with water or gastric fluids, facilitating the release and absorption of the active pharmaceutical ingredient.
Binder: In addition to its disintegrant properties, SSG can also act as a binder, helping to hold the ingredients of a tablet or capsule together.
2. FOOD INDUSTRY:
SSG is sometimes used as a disintegrant in food products such as powdered drink mixes and instant desserts to improve their reconstitution properties.
3. COSMETICS:
SSG is used in cosmetics and personal care products as a thickening agent, stabilizer, and emulsifier. It can be found in products such as creams, lotions, and gels.
